Bloomington, Illinois, shooting near Illinois Wesleyan: 1 dead, 7 hurt

Police were called just after 1:20 a.m. Nov. 1 to the 100 block of East Division Street, where a 19-year-old woman died and seven others were hurt, one critically (ABC7 Chicago). Police said it appeared isolated with no ongoing threat. Searches on Nov. 6 found no announced arrest; NPR Illinois noted it was Bloomington-Normal's second mass shooting in seven months, both near college campuses. Police ask for tips at 309-434-2532.

Bloomington, Indiana, Halloween shooting: 7 shot, 1 arrested (Nov. 1 report)

As of Nov. 1 (not re-checked Nov. 6), ABC7 Chicago reported 7 people were shot during Halloween celebrations near the Indiana University campus, with one person arrested and a gun recovered; it was unclear whether that person was the shooter.

Des Moines, Iowa: postal worker shot 2 coworkers at main post office; suspect in custody

AP (via KSAT) reported police got calls about 9:10 a.m. Nov 5; a female postal employee shot two female coworkers (ages 45 and 53) on the second floor, in an area closed to the public. A 55-year-old male employee was hurt in a fall escaping. Injuries are not believed life-threatening. The suspect, a 39-year-old woman from West Des Moines, was detained at 9:21 a.m. on a bike path without resistance; a 9 mm handgun was recovered. She faces two counts of attempted murder, two of willful injury causing serious injury, and intimidation. Nearby school entry was briefly restricted, then lifted. Status: Suspect in custody; scene cleared.
