Deep Ellum shootings: first suspect charged, others still sought
At a Nov. 5 news conference, U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould and Dallas Police Chief Comeaux said a 31-year-old man who turned himself in the evening of Nov. 4, after a FOX 4 'Trackdown' segment, faces seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon over the Main Street parking-lot shooting that wounded seven, plus a federal felon-in-possession charge (FOX 4). A second man was arrested on a federal gun charge after allegedly pointing a handgun toward Main Street; officials did not name him as a shooter (FOX 4). Police said the four deaths occurred across the three shootings, and Chief Comeaux urged those involved to come forward, saying police already have video and photos (FOX 4, CBS Texas). Motive and whether the three shootings are linked have not been released. Police said four people were killed and 15 wounded across three shootings. Operation Deep Cover, a federal, state and local effort, was announced Nov. 2.
