Southeastern New England: heavy rain, Flood Watch through Saturday morning
Local reports based on the National Weather Service said a Flood Warning covered parts of southern Bristol and southwestern Plymouth counties in Massachusetts and eastern Bristol and Newport counties in Rhode Island on the afternoon of Nov. 6, with 1.5 to 2.5 inches already fallen there. A broader Flood Watch for all of Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and Martha's Vineyard runs to 10 a.m. Saturday. Forecasts called for 2 to 4 inches, locally 5 to 6. The main concern was urban and poor-drainage flooding from leaf-blocked drains; one New Bedford report put totals near 6 inches. Drier weather is expected over the weekend. Cape Cod's county site said minor flooding reports had come in by 1 p.m. with nothing significant.
