LA/Long Beach watchmen: Friday midnight deadline has passed; outcome not found

The Pacific Maritime Association and ILWU Local 26 (about 250 watchmen) extended their deadline by one day to midnight Pacific time Friday, Nov 6, with federal mediators assisting; this was the second short delay after the original Nov 1 date (FreightWaves, Reuters via Baird Maritime). The employer group says the terminals the watchmen staff handle about 85% of Long Beach's and 33% of Los Angeles's cargo and expects other ILWU members to honor picket lines. Coverage we could find ends before the deadline, so we cannot say whether a deal was reached, another extension signed or a strike began; check the PMA and ILWU statements.

Counts vary by outlet. The suspect was found dead in the home. Investigation by regional investigative response teams (Fox 13).
